Observatoire de Lyon
The Observatoire de Lyon is an "Observatoire des Sciences de l'Univers" (OSU) and an internal school of the Université Lyon 1, co-piloted by INSU-CNRS. The Observatory's mission is to promote research in two laboratories (the Laboratoire de Géologie de Lyon, or LGL-TPE, and the Centre de Recherche en Astrophysique de Lyon, or CRAL), to disseminate knowledge to the general public and to schoolchildren (by means of a special project), and to promote the use of the Observatory's facilities to the general public and schoolchildren (see here), and toa next generation of geoscientists at Lyon 1 University.

Geological collections
The geological collections of University Claude Bernard Lyon 1 are the first French university collections by their size, and among the first twenty worldwide. They are used by researchers from all over the world. In addition to beautiful mineralogical and archaeological collections, the paleontological collections host more than 10 million fossils collected over the last 200 years.
